REPRONEX®

[MENOTROPINS FOR INJECTION, USP]

Repronex® (menotropins for injection, USP) is a gonadotropin preparation that has follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). Repronex® is a prescription medication manufactured by Ferring Pharmaceuticals Inc.

repronex Repronex® is currently FDA-approved in women for combined treatment with hCG in infertility. Repronex® is shown to stimulate healthy ovaries to make eggs in patients participating in an assisted reproductive technology (ART) program who have previously received pituitary suppression.
Repronex® requires a valid prescription from your prescriber. Ocean Breeze Healthcare can provide Repronex® as well as all the supplies needed to administer Repronex®.
 

What form is Repronex® currently available in?

Repronex® is available in a single-dose injection vial.
Each Repronex® box contains 5 vials of Repronex® and 5 vials of sterile normal saline diluent. Each Repronex® vial contains 75 IU of active drug in a form of lyophilized powder or pellet, and needs to be reconstituted, or mixed, with the provided diluent.

What are some potential side effects of Repronex®?

The most common side effects include, but are not limited to, headache, stomach pain, upset stomach, and injection related reaction such as bruising, redness or pain at the area of injection.
Repronex® can cause ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) in women. Common symptoms of OHSS include severe pelvic pain, shortness of breath, and weight gain. It may also cause blood clots and strokes.
These are not all the possible side effects of Repronex®. If you are experiencing any unwanted side effect(s) or have any specific questions regarding a side effect, contact your doctor or pharmacist. Who should NOT use Repronex®?

Do not take Repronex® if you are pregnant or have prior hypersensitivity to menotropin. Women with intracranial lesion, uncontrolled thyroid, adrenal dysfunction, sex hormone dependent tumors, primary ovarian failure, or abnormal uterine bleeding of unknown origin should not use Repronex®.
Talk to your doctor if you are nursing to discuss the benefit versus risk of using Repronex®. It is not known if the drug will be passed into mothers' milk.

How do you administer Repronex®?

Repronex® may be injected subcutaneously or intramuscularly for the medication to work. The Repronex® vial needs to be reconstituted with the normal saline diluents before injection. How do you store Repronex®?

Store all Repronex® products away from direct light.
Repronex® may be stored in refrigerator or at room temperature (37 - 77°F) until expiration date.

How long does Repronex® last?

Repronex® is valid until expiration date when stored in the appropriate condition. Once the medication is mixed, the preparation must be used immediately.

Q:How do you mix Repronex® for injection?
A: Repronex® vials need to be mixed with diluent prior to administration. The amount of dilution will vary depending on your prescription. Be sure to draw up the liquid amount specified by your prescriber. Withdraw the liquid from the diluents vial using needle and syringe provided with the medication.
